Protocol of the first session of the Intergovernmental Commission signed

On Friday, the Hungarian delegation participating in the first session of the Intergovernmental Commission concluded its Cuban program. According to the delegation, they wish to give new “life” to bilateral cooperation and are confident that cooperation between the two countries has entered a more intensive phase.

Following the signing of the agreements developed during the three-day meeting, Lajos Oláh, State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Telecommunications and Energy, described the meeting as successful and furthermore urged the joint development of concrete agreements on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which will take place in December.

Ramón Ripoll Díaz, Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment and Cuban Co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Commission, stated that the steps taken so far provide an appropriate foundation for future tasks.

The signed agreements cover sectors including the energy sector—including renewable energy—tourism, agriculture, fisheries, environmental protection, and transport.

Concurrent with the session of the Joint Commission, a business meeting was also held, organized by the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, in which a broad delegation from the European country participated. Hungarian Ambassador Miklós Deák participated in the ceremonial signing of the bilateral agreements.
